Like A Present You Can’t Believe You Are Getting

Do you have a memory of a time when you opened a present that you couldn’t believe you were getting? I have had that feeling on many occasions but in particular when I received the Nintendo NES. It was the hottest toy at the time and one that I wanted very badly.

If you think about the Lexus December to Remember event we are shown many different families going outside on Christmas morning to a beautiful, shiny new Lexus with a big red bow on top. I don’t know about you but it conjures up the feeling of my getting the Nintendo NES.

When people get a present that they can’t believe they are getting they treasure it, they protect it, and they value it dearly. Do you know another present that you shouldn’t believe you are getting and would treat this exact same way, or better?

Your employees

A great boss never forgets that their employees are there by choice. Employees don’t stay at a job for the company, the pay, or the benefits. Employees stay at a company because of their boss, the same is true when they leave.

Treat your employees like a gift you can’t believe you are getting. Take very good care of them. Thank them for staying with you and the work they do on your behalf. Give them the gifts of respect, trust, knowledge, training, and skills. When you treat your employees like a gift you can’t believe you are getting you to sustain the magic and excitement that came the day you welcomed them to your team.
