How do others know when you are approaching? Do they hear your sound the first time you meet? What do they remember about you after you have left? First impressions are important but so is the sound that echoes when you leave.
Harley Davidson motorcycles have a distinct sound that people immediately recognize. People quickly notice an aggressive exhaust on a bike, car or truck and it rattles them to their core eliciting feelings of thrill and excitement. The sound turns heads and prompts others to wish their vehicle sounded like that. Why is that? Because it feels edgy, powerful and gets their heart pumping. This is the feeling you want people to associate with you as you arrive and that echoes when you are gone.
Some people become white noise and are just static in the background. They blend in and stop being heard. They are not the first ones who come to mind when a project or task needs to be assigned or a job needs done. They do a good enough job with what they are responsible for they just don’t have a sound.
How you show up, how you lean in and the sound that echoes when you leave matter. Blending in and trying to remain invisible will only give you mediocre life experiences. Find your voice, find your presence and let your unique sound be heard when you arrive and echo when you leave. Own your sound because you are edgy, powerful and make their hearts pump.
