People in your life will make mistakes, as humans we are fallible. They may say or do hurtful things throughout the course of your relationship. When the relationship is strong they will usually come back to you and apologize later. I recently noticed a trend where people are responding to an apology with “OK”.
When you respond to someone’s apology with OK you are inadvertently telling them “do it again it is OK”. This is fine if you really are OK with them doing what was done. If that is not the case respond with thank you.
When you say thank you, you are accepting their apology and agreeing to move forward. Saying thank you allows you let go of the wrong that was said or done. When you say thank you they understand what they did was not OK but that you are acknowledging their regret for what was done.
The next time someone apologizes for their words or actions accept their apology by saying thank you.
