Tuesday Tip: Eliminate Stress Triggers

If you want things to be different, perhaps the answer is to become different yourself. – Norman Vincent Peale

Eliminate stress triggers that start your morning off on the wrong foot. There are many stress triggers that are within our control and with some planning and minor routine changes you can avoid them. Here are some common pre-work stress triggers and how to eliminate them. Stop procrastinating and find ways to arrive at work in a good mood. It changes everything.

News – News is mostly tragedy. Why start your day that way? Skip the news and read more positive things.

Forgetting to set the automatic coffee maker – Prepare it and set it while cleaning up after dinner.

Clothes aren’t ironed – Don’t procrastinate and iron them when they come out of the dryer.

It’s Monday – Take a few hours Sunday to get caught up on email, plot your to-do list and plan some recognition (showing gratitude to those you work with will bring you joy). When Monday comes you will have a head start.

Out of gas – Make filling up your gas tank a night before ritual.

Stuck in a rut – Change your routine. Take a different route to work, park in a distant parking space, walk around the office to places you seldom go, talk to different co-workers, take an offline lunch, listen to something different on the radio.
